I have never dealt well with being in liminal space. It is uncomfortable, disorientating and full of complicated emotions and practicalities to navigate.
It felt much easier to distract myself or jump from one quick fix to another than to deal with it. But that never really worked because, the truth is, when we try to bypass liminal space and all its complexities we are actually unable to move fully from one state to another or to find peace and acceptance in where we are in the present moment.
So I got stuck in the discomfort. For longer than i’d like to admit.
During that time I started to ask myself some questions:
“How different could our lives be if someone offered to hold space for us in these liminal spaces?”
“What if they provided us with a place of deep compassion, non-judgement, and a trust that you have all the answers you seek already within you?”
“What if they allowed you the freedom to navigate your own life’s liminality, on your terms and in your own time?”
I knew that finding the answers could change peoples lives and so, driven by finding a way to do this, I trained and became an ICF certified Life Coach.
This created a framework for the type of intuitive, deep work that I wanted to do. Giving me an understanding of the potential we all hold within us to answer our own questions and empower ourselves when given the right amount of support and freedom.
But now I needed to dig deeper. And that’s when the practice of Holding Space arrived in my life.
You can read more about Holding Space here and about the way in which I combine principles of coaching and Holding Space within my work.
This is a lifelong journey of learning and discovery, about myself, about others and about how the questions that we ask and the spaces that we hold for each other can truly change our lives.
And so my offering to you is to keep searching for the answers to these questions and to continue the practice of holding space for others in challenging times, so that they can learn how to do it for themselves.
As a trained horticulturalist and lover of the natural world I see themes of change and liminality throughout our environment and our interactions with nature and each other.
This influences my work and the way in which I approach the interconnectedness of myself, my clients and the places in which we dwell.
